Facebook Birthday Fundraiser
One of the best parts of FB is the annual birthday celebration -- twenty-four hours of LOVE from friends, family and the likes where most of us end up feeling like royalty which almost makes up for getting another year older. Did you know now FB has added a function where users can do a birthday fundraiser to leverage this attention surrounding their birthday? Better still, that users can choose NHH to be the recipient of their fundraiser? In October, ED Jennifer Hicks tested the waters on this new function and with very little effort raised over $1600! We’d love for you to consider to choose us on your next birthday.
Become a Monthly Donor
Did you know that monthly giving is an incredibly efficient way to support NHH? The NHH Core Club members are a group of dedicated friends like you who make monthly gifts that provide a consistent, reliable income stream allowing us to focus more on our mission and less on fundraising. Your monthly gift is not only convenient for you, it will make an on-going difference for Azusa families. For about the cost of a small latte, you can rewrite the future for hundreds of students in Azusa. Contact us today about joining our Core Club -- we’d love to answer your questions!
Fund College Tours
Every year during spring break, we devote our efforts to getting our students on university campuses so they can get a first hand perspective of what it means to really be college bound. In most cases, we use public transportation but we would love to raise enough money to rent a bus! We estimate the costs of coordinating multiple visits for our over 100 students to be upwards of $5000.
For just $20, you can sponsor one student and help increase their exposure to higher education! If you have any questions on how to support this program goal in other ways, email us at info@onhh.org.
Fund a Camp Experience
Thank you for your interest in sponsoring students for the week-long Forest Home Camp experience. Your contribution will help a self-selected group of junior high and senior high students attend a Christian camp in the beautiful mountains of Forest Falls. Part of their camp experience will include traditional outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, and zip lining. Outside of their day-to-day context, students not only gain a fresh perspective of their lives and experience the atmosphere of the mountains, but also grow in their understanding of what it means to follow Christ. In the following academic year, we organize two “reunions” for those students with the primary purpose of checking in on goals made during their summer camp experience.
Forest Home camp rates per student vary but are on average over $500. Additionally, NHH covers the cost of transportation from our site to Forest Home Camp as well as costs for counselors to attend. The expenses related to camp are especially difficult for Neighborhood Homework House to cover because they come during a season when we typically receive fewer donations. Students work hard to supplement this cost during the spring semester through their own fundraising efforts so they may also have a sense of the value of the experience. Similarly, parents are required to pay a portion of their child’s expense based on their income levels. However these efforts still only cover a fraction of the total cost needed. Would you join me in making camp possible for our students? The reality for low-income students is an expense like summer camp is just too much for their working class parents to shoulder.
We’d like your help to change this. Thank you for helping us to continue to provide a new way for students to connect with one another and grow closer to God!
